BrickPi: Raspberry Pi for Mindstorms Robots

BickPi is a system that converts Raspberry Pi into a robot.  The project is a board and case that connects LEGO® Mindstorms Sensors, motors, and parts to turn your credit card size computer into a robot.  The BrickPi allows you to connect up to 3 NXT Motors and 4 Sensors.

The Raspberry Pi gets NXTified

Dexter Industries are currently working a LEGO Mindstorms NXT Interface/ Shield for the Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your HDTV. Add a mouse and a keyboard and you have a capable little PC which can be used for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video. It was designed to be used by kids all over the world to learn programming. And the Raspberry Pi will set you back a mere $35.00.

Extending the NXT Wifi Sensor’s Range

The Dexter Industries Wifi Sensor allows your Lego Mindstorms NXT robots to connect to the internet and send and receive data via a local Wifi network. The I found that the Wifi Sensor had issues with signal levels, which is primary cause is my homes design. Laptops have issues as well in some areas as well.

I’m the Winner of a Dexter dIMU Sensor

The Guy NXT door, (Aswin Bouwmeester) had a competition where you could win a LEGO® Mindstorms NXT dIMU sensor from Dexter Industries. It is the same sensor sent to Aswin for evaluation purposes, from Dexter Industries. Aswin recieved it for free for testing, and is probably is the best tested sensor available.

New NXTBee Radio Modems for the NXT

A pair of NXTBee Radio Modems for use with my LEGO Mindstorms Robots, arrived late this afternoon from Dexter Industries in the United States. I’ve been waiting for a while for someone to develop such a NXT add-on for me to play with. They only where in transit to Tasmania for 8½ day from the U.S.A. Which is very acceptable, considering the time I’ve waited for many other items from that part of the world!

Dexter Industries NXT dGPS Sensor

Dexter Industries have released the dGPS Sensor, which is a GPS Sensor for Lego Mindstorms NXT Robotics. The Dexter Industries dGPS Sensor provides GPS coordinate information to your robot and preforms calculations on the navigation information received that can be used to navigate to your target coordinates. The sensor provides  real-time latitude, longitude, time, speed and heading information to your robot.  It also has powerful navigational calculators that can be used to navigate to target coordinates.
