Tweeting Data with NXT2WiFi Webserver Module

In this Tutorial we will go through the steps required to have your LEGO Mindstorms NXT Data sent to Twitter using the NXT2WiFi Miniature Web Server Module. In this Tutorial, the code used to program the LEGO Mindstorms NXT is [nxc]. You will also need a Twitter Account, if you don’t already have one.

LEGO NXT Thermometer using CatCan SmartSensor Lite

I decided to put my CatCan SmartSensor Lite’s Temperature measuring capabilities to use by constructing a simple LEGO Mindstorms NXT Mechanical Linear Display Thermometer. The Thermometer is graduated in 1 Degree Celsius increments. The Display pointer is driven via a NXT Motor connected to a conveyor belt built from old style Technic Track Elements.

NXT Quad Drive Holomonic Platform

I’ve been working on a new LEGO Mindstorms NXT Dual Drive, Quad Holomonic Platform. This Robot uses dual Rotacasters on each of the four axis’s. The Robot also uses four NXT Ultrasonic Sensor between each of the four axis’s. The four Ultrasonic Sensor work in ‘MODE 3: Event Capture Mode’. The Ultrasonic Sensor are cycled through one-at-a-time, to avoid interference between each of the sensors.

This is the type of Machine that ‘Rube Goldberg‘ envisaged for his weird world. Below is an example of a ‘Rube Goldberg Light Switch’. I have attempted emulate this crazy idea of Goldberg’s, with my very own over complicated LEGO Mindstorms NXT based ‘Light Switch’.

Ball Sorting Crane with Ultimate Grabber

As mentioned in my previous post, I’ve been working on-and-off for a couple years now on a reliable LEGO Technics, Crane Claws which will pick up balls reliably. To show case my ‘Ultimate Crane Grab’, I’ve built a LEGO Mindstorms NXT Coloured Ball Sorting Crane, which runs along a geared tressel, which features my Ultimate Crane Grab mechanism! The Crane picks up coloured Ping-Pong Balls, and drops them into cells according to their colour.

Long Range Target Location Using a Laser Sensor

I began testing my Mindstorms NXT Laser Target Sensor with 40mm P.V.C. Pipe Tubes 50mm Long wrapped with 3M Scotchlite 8910 Retroreflective Silver Fabric. The distance between the Laser Sensor and targets varied from between 1 to 2 Metres in this Test. The Sensor uses a 650nm 5mW (Red) laser module. The Sensor can however reliably detect objects at 2.4m (8′), dependant on ambient light conditions.

NXT Keyboard for Ordering System

I’ve been working on an NXT Keyboard for an Ordering System to use with my LEGO Mindstorms NXT Robot Crane with Ball Sorting Conveyor System, in conjunction with my NXT Line Following Dump Truck. The Keyboard uses 6x RCX type Touch switches connected to my RCX-TouchMux Sensor Multiplexer.

UPDATE: LEGO Mindstorms NXT Tic-Tac-Toe Robot

LEGO Mindstorms NXT TicTacToe (Noughts & Crosses) Playing Robot was programmed with NXC, using Daniele Benedettelli’s ‘TicTacToe AI’ Code. It uses a Hitechnic Colour Sensor to detect the coloured balls placed on the playing board. The game has 3 difficulty levels starting with ‘Novice’ that places balls at random. Next is ‘Normal’, followed by the almost impossible ‘Expert’ level.

Lego NXT: Tic-Tac-Toe Playing Robot

LEGO Mindstorms NXT Tic-Tac-Toe (Naughts & Crosses) Playing Robot was programmed with NXC, using Daniele Benedettelli‘s ‘AI‘ Code. The Robot uses a Hitechnic Colour Sensor to detect the coloured balls placed on the Game Board. The robot’s ability to detect the correct colour of the balls, is far superior when using the Hitechnic Colour Sensor than trying to use the standard LEGO Light Sensor.
